Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics organized by Asian Society for Solid State Ionics is a grand event occurring twice a year for more than 30 years. It unites all the scientists and engineers all over Asia together to discuss the fundamentals and applications related to Solid State Ionics, to promote collaboration among various solid state ionicists not only from the region but also with others, outside the region. Formally the ACSSI has been held at various places across Asia – Singapore (1988, 2014), China (1990, 2000, 2010, 2018), India (1992, ,1998, 2008, 2016), Malaysia (1994, 2002) , Sri Lanka (1996, 2006), South Korea (2004) and Japan (2012, 2022). Now the 18 th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics is being held at Chennai, India. Solid State Ionics is an interdisciplinary branch of Science and Technology which deals with the synthesis, characterization and application of ion conducting materials. Many researches on solid state ionic materials and devices were carried out by the scientists in various part of the world. This conference covers the inorganic crystalline solids, ceramics, glasses, polymers gels, composites for cathode/anode materials and interfaces, electrically conducting polymers, ion dynamics and theoretical modeling, nano materials and devices, advanced bio-materials and electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuel cells, sensors, solar cells, super capacitors, electro- chromic displays and molecular electronic devices. The goal of the conference is to provide an opportunity to the young aspiring researchers to interact with the leading scientists and gain knowledge. We, the organizing committee, welcome you for this great event to gain your knowledge!

Materials Research Center (MRC) was founded by Prof. Selvasekarpandian in June 2012. In June 2013, MRC was taken over by Subramanian - Thangathai Educational Trust, founded by Prof. Selvasekarapandian in the name of his parents and registered with Government of Tamil Nadu. The aim of the center is to motivate youngsters to develop devices for energy. Batteries is one of the energy devices which has gained importance in the development of Lithium-ion battery. The center involves itself in the development of electrolyte membrane for Lithium, Sodium, Magnesium, Zinc and Proton Battery and PEM Fuel cell. Different electrolyte membranes are developed using Synthetic polymer & Biopolymer. Recently, an attempt has been made to develop electrolyte membrane using Biomaterials such as leaves, flowers and seeds. Six patents have been filed for the development of electrolyte membranes using Biomaterial. The center has so far published more than 100 papers in leading International Journals with good Impact Factor. It has helped 28 College faculty and Research Scholars to complete their PhD on time. At present, 20 Research Scholars are being trained in making different types of batteries and PEM Fuel cell.

Meenakshi College for Women (MCW) was established by Shri K. R. Sundararajan, a great professor of mathematics and renowned pioneer of higher education. The college which was started on 4 th August, 1975 during the International Women’s year, is a Government aided institution for women affiliated to University of Madras committed to shaping young girls into skilled, responsible, disciplined and socially conscious citizens so that they imbibe the cardinal virtues of Faith, Fidelity & Fortitude. The college is a well-recognised and vibrant institution working relentlessly for women’s education. The college, with the strength of 3000 students, offers 27 courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce including post-graduate courses, M.Phil., courses in Physics, Mathematics, computer science, History, Economics and Tamil and PhD research in Tamil, Economics and History. In 1999, the college became one of the youngest colleges to be trusted with autonomy and the same has been extended by University Grants Commission based on continued creditable academic performance. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has conferred A+ (A plus) Grade to the college at the first accreditation. As part of Physics Department, Meenakshi Sundararajan Research Centre is successfully functioning on a continual basis with adequate infrastructure facilities. Dedicated resource Scientists along with faculty members undertake many R&D related scientific activities. Like all other Departments, the Physics Department also collaborates with reputed institutions such as Department of Atomic Energy, UGC etc., to take up research Projects. So far, 25 technical papers were published in the field of Physics alone in peer reviewed journals, besides the execution of several M.Phil and PG projects.
